One man is dead after a 2-alarm house fire in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.

Fire crews responded to the 6900 block of Aberdeen Road in Upper Darby about 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

Officials say two men were working on a car in the garage of the residence when the fire broke out. One of the men called 911, while the second man went into the residence to retrieve his wife inside the home.

Officials say the woman made it outside to safety while the man did not. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crews declared the fire under control just before 2:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
